The humble Test Card has been given a makeover for the new millennium, courtesy of Sky 3D and Zoe Ball.

The new 3D Test Card will run on the Sky 3D channel when there's no extra dimensional programming on show and features the former Live and Kicking presenter alongside a character called Mr 3D.

Unlike the BBC's famous still Test Card F featuring Carole Hersee, daughter of BBC engineer George Hersee, playing noughts and crosses with a doll, Sky's 2011 version is a video and explains how to get the most out of your 3D TV.

Zoe Ball said: "A new era in TV needs a new test card, and who has time to read all the instructions? It’s so much easier to watch a demonstration on the telly. This new 3D Test Card will help people set up their new 3DTVs to ensure they get the best  seat in the house to indulge in the truly immersive experience that 3D offers."

Chris Johns, Sky’s chief engineer and the chap responsible with developing the new 3D Test Card said: "This guide brings the test card into the 21st Century, using the latest 3D technology to make something which seems technically complicated, clear and simple – allowing you to get the best pictures from your HD 3D screen."

Back in 2007 Sky employed Myleene Klass to demo HD for a special Test Card. Hersee's Test Card has been broadcast for more than 70,000 hours, meaning that she holds the record for being on the TV more than anyone else. Yes, even more than Pocket-lint's Stuart Miles.

Unbelievable, we know.
