The 8th annual Pocket-lint Gadget Awards was held last night, 29 November, in London. The dust has now settled, the winners are jubilant, the losers nurse sore heads after consolatory drinks at the bar and we've all had the chance to reflect on what was hot in 2011.

This year Pocket-lint took the Awards back to basics: it was all about the people and they certainly came, packing the rooms to the rafters, to celebrate a great year in tech. Chris Hall, Editor, kicked off the evening following an introduction from Siri, with Stuart Miles, Owner and Founder, presenting the awards.

Met with rapturous applause we saw some big names walking away with the prizes. Samsung picked up two Awards and Sony walked away with one, but Apple took three prizes, after the fierce three-stage judging process. The biggest cheer went to OnLive for walking away with Innovation of the Year.

Prizes given, the tech industry partied into the wee hours, soaking up the atmosphere and munching down on some fantastic southern-style pulled pork. All now feel ready to face the Christmas party season and inevitably kiss goodbye to 2011.

We'd like to thank all who came along. As always, it was fantastic to have representatives from so many companies and we'd like to pass on congratulations to the worthy winners.

Of course we need to thank those who supported the event, from Vodafone's contribution to the judging dinner, Net Communities for their donation to the bar, Jessops for sponsoring our camera award and Spode (@spode) for the Tweetwall.

Finally, a hearty thanks to all the judges, both overt and covert, and to you the Pocket-lint reader for your votes and for reading the site in 2011. Here's looking to more excitement in 2012…
