We brought you news on the imminent closure of UK Best Buy at the beginning of November and now the company has posted a letter saying that Best Buy UK stores and website will close on 15 January 2012.
The UK venture was a teamup between Best Buy and the Carphone Warehouse, which, following disappointing performance since they first started opening in 2010, has made the tough decision to close it doors just 2 years after launch.
In the letter Best Buy states:
"We've loved bringing our passion for the latest and greatest technology to Britain over the past 2 years, and have always had the utmost appreciation, respect, and commitment to the entire UK marketplace, our customers and stakeholders.
"However, as you may know, based upon the outcome of our employee consultation, we intend to cease retail trading at our Best Buy UK branded stores & website by the 15th January 2012.
"We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.
"We are still committed to making sure your needs are well served up until our closing and beyond. Our on-going services are described in the "Customer Notice" and in our stores."
The plus side is that we can all take advantage of the demise of UK Best Buy, as it's now launched its closing down sale. However, at present most of the discounts are ranging between the 10-30 per cent mark, with the exception of DVDs and CDs having 50 per cent off, so you may still want to shop around. Give it a few weeks and the deals should get a little better.
