In an uncharacteristic move, Apple has admitted that the latest iOS 5 update, version 5.0.1, hasn’t actually fixed the battery issues everyone was hoping it would.

An Apple statement sent to AllThingsD states that the company is still working on investigating the issues, suggesting that the update was more about bug fixing than giving iPhone users longer battery life.

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues,” Apple said.

That’s likely to come as a blow if you were hoping the latest update was going to give you battery life that lasts into the night, rather than cutting out on the way home.

Many Apple iPhone users are reporting that the update has made zero difference to the power life of their Apple devices.

Apple issued the software update iOS 5.0.1 on Thursday. Many at the time thought that it was released to fix your iPhone battery woes.

We will keep you posted.
