Life in a Day, the YouTube documentary which boasts Sir Ridley Scott as an executive producer and is directed by Kevin Macdonald, has been made available on the video sharing site in its entirety.

The film is made up of 1,125 clips, that were selected from 80,000 submissions (comprising more than 4,500 hours of footage), and shows respective occurrences from around the world during a single day, 24 July 2010.

The film is described as a "historic cinematic experiment" and had its world première at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and was also simulcast on the web at the same time.

The film has led to the Britain in a day project, which Scott and Macdonald will oversee. Britain in a Day will see members of the public filming themselves on the same day, 12 November, and then submitting their videos via YouTube for inclusion in the feature-length documentary.

The resulting production will be shown on BBC2 next year as part of the corporation’s Cultural Olympiad, it is being funded by BBC Learning.

Life in a Day is available now, on YouTube, in 25 languages.
