Solio, the makers of handy little solar chargers for mobile devices, has added Tread to its environmentally-conscious line-up of products.

Tread encompasses a range of cases for that are made from recycled Colombian truck tyres and are designed to protect mobile devices, including Solio chargers, iPods, and notebook computers.

Quite why discarded Colombian tyres are specially used for these products isn’t clear, however, it’s hard not to cheer for companies that find innovate uses for unwanted products.

Each case is made of waterproof rubber, contains integrated headphone holders, and is held together with nylon stitching.
