Microsoft has said that it is now pushing out the Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) update to all eligible smartphones around the world.
“We’re now delivering Mango to 100 percent of eligible phones around the world, regardless of carrier. (In other words, to everything that’s not listed as “scheduling” or “testing” on Where’s My Phone Update?),” Microsoft’s Eric Hautala, General Manager, Customer Experience Engineering has said in a post on the company’s Windows Phone blog.
Microsoft has been slowly pushing out the new operating system, which adds stacks of new features to Windows Phone 7 users on the 27 September.
Windows Phone 7.5, codenamed Mango, brings some 500 features to the phone operating system including Twitter integration, conversation threads in email, and groups in the people section, amongst others.
Hautala also added that some Windows Phone 7 users would be getting a firmware update as well.
“We’re also sending out ‘firmware’ updates to some phones around the world, so don’t be surprised if you see another update notification pop up on your phone in the coming days. Firmware is software provided to us by handset makers that’s designed to do things like improve your phone’s performance, fix bugs, or even activate new features (if your phone hardware supports it). Not everybody will receive or require a firmware update: It all depends on your country, carrier, and phone model.’
