Anybody who sported a floppy fringe, baggy tie-dyed sweatshirt and went around exclaiming that they were "mad fer it" back in the late eighties/early nineties are currently trembling with excitement over the fact that The Stone Roses, arguably the best band during the Madchester indie explosion (along with The Happy Mondays, naturally), have reformed for a new live gig.
But, did you know that they also appeared in high-brow quizathon University Challenge recently?
No?
Well, to be honest, that's because they didn't. Instead, Simon Balch of Channel Alright has taken Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and, er, the other one's reunion press conference and cut it together with old footage of the UK swot-bothering quiz show, to hilarious effect.
It's definitely our favourite viral of the day, and whets our appetite for the forthcoming gig at Heaton Park. Or, at least, it would if we weren't scared of going any further north than Watford Gap Services.
Enjoy.
