Motorola Xoom to get Android Ice Cream Sandwich update?

17 October 2011 17:48 GMT / By Hunter Skipworth

The Motorola Xoom could be the first tablet to get updated to Google's soon-to-be-released Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

According to Fudzilla, the Motorola Xoom will see the hybrid phone and tablet operating system pushed out as an update imminently.

Ice Cream Sandwich is set to be announced tomorrow at a Google event in Hong Kong, where we should hopefully also see the arrival of the Galaxy Nexus, the first handset to run the operating system from Samsung.

Fudzilla is also saying it can definitely confirm tablets like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Transformer will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

We likely won't know more until Google announces things tomorrow, but we expect, given the hype surrounding it, that most companies will be pushing to get Ice Cream Sandwich onto their devices as soon as possible.

It may also be that Ice Cream Sandwich devices make an appearance at Motorola's event planned this week, especially given that Google and the big M are such good friends now.
