SlingPlayer for Android Tablets brings TV to your Honeycomb tablet

Sling Media has announced a new Honeycomb-flavoured version of its SlingPlayer app allowing user to "sling" content from their TV to their Android tablet.

"A Slingbox is the perfect accessory to an Android tablet," said Raghu Tarra, senior vice president and general manager at Sling Media. "When combined with SlingPlayer, now anyone with an Android device can enjoy a beautiful, personalized TV experience anywhere in the world."

However, rather than just offer a free upgrade for people who have already bought the Android app for their phone, users will have to pay again to get the big screen experience.

Slingbox owners with Android tablets will get a higher resolution picture, be able to change channels via an on screen remote, control their DVRs and watch their favourite shows anywhere they have an Internet connection.

SlingPlayer for Android Tablets is available now and will cost £20.99 in the UK and $29.99 in the US from the Android Market.

The SlingPlayer application for Android Phones will continue to work in "Compatibility Mode" on tablets at no extra charge, however won’t offer the higher quality resolutions available on tablet devices.
