Live music to change the world

WEBSITE OF THE DAY - Oxjam

To be a true music fan these days, you need more than just commitment, you need a fair wodge of disposable income. Actually buying music isn’t too bad, but going to see your favourite artists live can be an expensive business. It’s safe to say that there’s a lot of money changing hands when it comes to live music.

So it’s encouraging to see that at www.oxjam.org.uk some of that money can go to help good causes around the world. With the tagline, “local music, global impact” you’d be forgiven for thinking this is just your small-time, yet-to-be-signed bands appearing, but today, tickets go on sale to see Fatboy Slim, Kissy Sell Out and Brett Anderson among the lineup that have announced dates at the end of this month.

So if you fancy some live music, safe in the knowledge that your ticket price is going somewhere other than into the faceless record company execs' pockets, this is the place.
