Hiring a vehicle to move something sizeable can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. You can go to one of the big hire firms, and pay the premium prices, or you can go to your local yard and take your chances with one of their Transits, which are often more rust than metal.

Either way, you’ll usually have to hire the van for a full day or sometimes more.

At www.streetvan.co.uk, just like any other car club, you can hire one for just the job you need it for.

Book your van online, or over the phone, then pick it up and open it with your Streetcard. Use it, park it and walk away. Just like it was your own, but without the extra costs.

It’s primarily a London service at the moment, but you can expect this sort of thing to pop up in cities all over the place soon.
