Channel4.com 4oD launches all-new rebuilt user interface

With "My 4oD" feature

Channel4.com has announced that its ever-popular 4oD video on demand service has had an overhaul; due to rise like a phoenix from the flames on 31 August, resplendent in a host of new features.

Keeping its 30-day catchup service and extensive back catalogue, the new features include a "fast and efficient predictive search", and viewer driven recommendations - this should make content on the site far easier to discover.

Another addition is the "My4oD" feature, which will allow those registered to "access a number of enhanced features, helping you to manage and createyour own on-demand experience." Details of the My4oD function include: the ability to create playlists of episodes and schedule an evening's viewing; keep track of episodes they've watched or started watching, and save favourites in a single place and get in-page reminders from Channel 4 whenever a new 4oD episode is available.

Sarah Milton, Channel 4's head of VoD said, "increasing the availability of 4oD on multiple platforms remains a key tenet of Channel 4's strategy. Channel4.com is by far the most popular access point for 4oD and we are focused on developing and improving this proposition.

"We have refined and optimised the design to ensure viewers get the best experience from the wealth of content Channel 4 has to offer. We have over 5,000 hours of archive programming available on the Channel4.com 4oD service, and the redesign makes it even easier for users to browse our offering."

It also seems that there are more plans ahead to personalise the 4oD service, as Channel4.com states that it is a "key ambition".
