Much like Ford's MyFord Touch and SYNC AppLink system we covered  a few months back, Pioneer is hoping to jump on the trend of the connected car by introducing a new system that allows iPhone and iPod content to be controlled on the dashboard of your car.

Called the Pioneer AppRadio, it integrates into your dashboard allowing you to use and control your apps such as Google Maps, YouTube and your calendar directly through the screen. This is aided with a hi-res, WVGA 6.1-inch capacitive multi-touch screen.

The AppRadio also comes equipped with a built-in AM/FM tuner with RDS text information display (when available) and full iPod audio control/playback. Pioneer employs Apple’s iPod Out feature enabling the AppRadio system to display the familiar iPod navigation menu, with album art, song title and artist all shown.

The device also, of course, features GPS controls and also pprovides with a hands-free calling solution; all provided via Bluetooth phonebook transfer, with browsing and searching available by touchscreen controls.

All in all it looks like it could be a neat little package, the Pioneer AppRadio is available now and priced at Ł399.95.
