The signs that Google TV may not quite be the living room revolution that the bods over in Mountain View hoped it would be continue apace, with Sony again slashing the prices of its Google TV kit.

At the end of July we told you how Logitech had severely cut the price of its Revue Google TV set top box to $99 to "remove price as a barrier to broad customer acceptance" - a device launched only 9 months prior at cost of $299.99.

And now Sony has added its second bit cut to its Google TV range. At launch in October the Sony Internet TV range cost $599.99 for the 24-inch class NSX-24GT1, $799.99 for the 32-inch NSX-32GT1, $999.99 for the 40-inch NSX-40GT1 and $1,399.99 for the 46-inch NSX-46GT1.

Now the TVs are on sale for $399, $498, $723 and $961 - a much bigger saving than you'd expect on TVs from Sony that are less than a year old.

Google TV is no doubt a long-term plan for Google, and could possibly prove to be a slow burner, especially with Android compatibility on the horizon - the new software is said to be based on Android 3.1.

But the initial reception has been poor, and we're not talking about the signal. It's not quite a Google fail yet - but it's the stamp of disapproval is looming ever closer.
