Beautiful parents 'have more daughters'

26 per cent less likely to have sons

Do you consider yourself beautiful? Thinking about having a child? Well it seems that if you do, chances are you are 26% less likely to have sons than daughters (sorry Ben).

According to research by Dr Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economic's Interdisciplinary Institute of Management, parents who are physically attractive have a lower than expected chance of fathering sons over daughters.

The research goes on to suggest that "if beautiful parents have more daughters and physical attractiveness is heritable, then, over evolutionary history, women should gradually become more attractive than men".

The research also found that big and tall parents have more sons, as do violent parents.
