To browse. It means something entirely different than from say, 15 years ago. Back then, it wasn’t about surfing the worldwide whatchamacallit. It was almost exclusively heard in only one context:

“Can I help you sir?”

“No thanks. I’m just browsing.”

That was it.

And that exchange illustrates quite well the ethos behind thebrowser.com .

It’s aimed at people who take the time and the trouble to seek out the finer things in life. In this case, it’s writing, on any number of different contemporary topics.

The riots gripping the streets of the UK, the global economic downturn, or perhaps it’s a new twist on the theory of relativity.

It’s an intelligent, informed way of tapping into the zeitgeist, and with iPad and iPhone apps available too, this has become a firm favourite on the daily commute for a few of us in the office.
