Tablets are truly becoming mainstream, as we've seen a marked increase in the rate at which companies are banging out low-priced forms of the format in recent months - and this Binatone HomeSurf 705 is the latest.

Priced at £99.95 the HomeSurf 705 is an update to the Homesurf. It comes packing the Android 2.1 operating system - which should just about do the job - and the tablet will no doubt be able to perform the basics well: surfing the web, checking emails, connecting with friends on Facebook, watching movies, listening to music etc.

Other specs include a 7-inch TFT LCD screen, of the resistive touchscreen variety, Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and 2GB of built-in memory that can is expandable through Micro SD card slot.

Although pretty basic, one of the upsides is a decent battery life with 10-hour audio playback, 4-hour video playback, 6-hour ebook reading time and 5-hour internet browsing time.

Altogether a decent package for the money, though you might want to compare it to the Arnova tablet which is also just under £100.
