Google Maps has added public transport directions to its repertoire, meaning that you won't only be able to see how to walk or drive to your destination, you'll be able to check out what Underground line to jump on as well.
The addition appears alongside the car and walk icons, as a little train, and gives you TfL info such as timetables and journey times. You'll get info for Underground, bus, tram and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) lines with the London Datastore populating the journey data.
"Whether you use public transport every day or infrequently, as a commuter, on a business trip or as a tourist, we hope that public transport directions in London make planning your trips more convenient," said Google's Thijs van As, associate product manager, Transit Directions.
The addition, which is for the desktop and mobile versions of Google Maps, comes after Google introduced the Traffic Navigation beta for Android devices last month.
Google also just announced version 5.8 for Android, adding the following features:
-Upload photos for a Place
-My Places as a simple way to manage the Places you’ve starred and recently viewed
-Descriptive terms for Places in search results
-Add a new Place on-the-go when checking in
It's in the Android Market now.
