Onkyo has announced that it is coming to the App party - revealing that an Android streaming app will hit the Android Market in August.

The app will allow you to use your Android device, whether that be smartphone or tablet, to beam over music to any one of the Onkyo 2011 AV receivers, or the new TX-8050 stereo network receiver.

It uses your Wi-Fi home network to hook up with your Onkyo kit and means that you won't need to turn on your TV to listen to your tunes - you can just use the app's UI to navigate.

The app also doubles up as a remote control for your Onkyo receivers, allowing you to choose the input source, adjust the volume and tone, or control in individual zones in a multi-room set-up.

Out in August, the Onkyo Android app will be free.
