I went to a very fashionable party at the weekend. Full of lots of effortlessly glamourous, successful people, all looking like they’d walked off the style pages of the glossy magazines.

Then I arrived, looking more like something a sheepdog had dragged in from the classified pages of Farmers’ Weekly. I’m not really up on fashion any more it would seem.

So I made some casual enquiries about where people were shopping these days, and www.farfetch.com was mentioned time and time again, by people who were clearly in the know.

With its sale on at the moment, offering anywhere up to 70% off designer clothes, even a bumpkin like me can afford to stock up on a few “key pieces”. As I was reliably informed was the done thing.

I didn’t stay at the party very long, by the way. They didn’t have any real ale. Or pork scratchings.
