As well as getting busy hyping up fanboys worldwide by dropping Mac OS X Lion and the new MacBook Airs at the same time, the Cupertino collective has also found time to detail the new Apple Thunderbolt Display, the world’s first display with Thunderbolt I/O technology.

Described as the "ultimate docking station for your Mac notebook" the Thunderbolt Display is a 27-inch, 16:9 monitor that packs a FaceTime camera, high quality audio, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 800, USB 2.0 and, of course, Thunderbolt ports.

It has a 178-degree viewing angle and packs a 2.1 speaker system as well as a MagSafe charger to keep your MacBook charged up.

“The Apple Thunderbolt Display is the ultimate docking station for your Mac notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With just one cable, users can dock with their new display and connect to high performance peripherals, network connections and audio devices.”

It'll be out in "the next 60 days" and will cost £899. You'll need a Mac rocking a Thunderbolt port, of course.
