Apple raises App prices

59p now 69p

Apps for your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad just got a little bit more expensive, after Apple announced new prices across the board in the App Store on Wednesday.

The cheapest apps will now cost 69p rather than the 59p that it's been since launch; this sees an increase of just under 17 per cent - that's almost as much as British Gas is putting up its gas prices (18 per cent).

But it is not just the entry level app prices that are going up. The price barriers for other apps have also been affected. There seems to be one exception to the rule. Apps that cost £2.99 still cost £2.99, however all the others have increased.

It means Apple’s Pages app for the iPhone is now £6.99 rather than £5.99, while more importantly Angry Birds is now 69p. The horror.
