Philips has proved that there is still legs in the PMP yet with the launch of the Philips GoGear Muse 3.
The Dutch electronics giant is keen to point out that the Muse 3 packs "two new technologies"; SafeSound and SoundPersonalisation.
SafeSound has nothing to do with hygiene when sharing earbuds (always cover up kids) but is instead is a tool designed to help you keep your hearing past the age of 40. It analyses sound levels and gives you a warning if your long-term hearing might be damaged by your listening habits. It will also give you daily and weekly stats of your sound exposure.
SoundPersonalisation is a new take on the graphic equaliser, instead offering listeners the ability to tweak the sound by swiping their fingers around the screen between the four corners marked as powerful, warm, sparkling and vocal.
Apart from the new tech, the Muse 3 is a nice looking PMP packing a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a 480x320 resolution.
It has support for MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, APE, MPEG4 SP/ASP, MPEG4 AVC/H.264 HP, RMVB, WMV9, JPEG, PNG, BMP and GIF files and uses Philips' Full Sound tech for bringing the best out of compressed files.
Available now, there are two versions; an 8GB that'll cost you £109.99 and a 16GB one that'll cost £30 more than that.
