WEBSITE OF THE DAY – FontFonter

Find a font that is just your type

4 July 2011 1:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

It is actually possible for one brand to own a font. Some of the most iconic logos in history consist of fonts that were cut specifically for the job. Designers would’ve spent weeks hand crafting every verve, every angle, every square millimeter of the alphabet, with the sole aim of making something that would stand out from the crowd.

Other brands just took one off the shelf and made it work.

The right font can make a massive difference, and never was that more true than when designing  websites.

This clever little site at www.fontfonter.com lets you see what your favourite websites look like in a number of different web-safe fonts.

It goes way beyond an interesting exercise in brand recognition though. This is an invaluable resource for  people trying to design pages that will grab the attention of the masses.

If that’s you, this is somewhere you might find something that is just your type.
