WEBSITE OF THE DAY – Photoshop for Photographers

The perfect place to fiddle with your pixels

30 June 2011 1:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

Whether the purists like it or not, Photoshop is the photographer’s friend. If you trawl the web you can find hundreds of arguments raging about whether digital enhancement is a good thing. But the same sorts of arguments raged about digital versus film a few years ago and look how that turned out. Digital won.

So if you’re handy with a camera and don’t hold a grudge against fiddling with some pixels, but you’re not sure what to do, www.photoshopforphotographers.com is a good place to start.

It’s the online home of one of the best books we’ve found on the subject, which covers everything you could need, from the basics right up to the full raft of mind-blowing features found in the latest extended version of the software.

We love film photography. For sheer quality of image, you still can’t beat it. But we also know that using the latest software to improve an image that would otherwise be deleted has got to be a good thing. So, its worthwhile learning how to do it properly.
