Opera has gone stats bonkers with its newest release of its browser. The company has plenty to celebrate, topping 200 million users across all of its platforms. 

Whilst that might only mean a 2.4 per cent share of the market, the browser seems plentiful excited. To celebrate they have done some interesting stat gathering, pointing to things like 896,980 as the highest recorded Frogger score, far less than Opera's new 11.50 browser has been downloaded. 

Opera has reigned in the UI of the browser to offer a much more sleek and simple experience. The "featherweight" approach to surfing is designed to be less intrusive when viewing websites. 

An overhaul of code has also brought the browser up to speed with competitors, expect a 10 to 15 per cent hike in performance. 

The really clever bit about 11.50 however is the addition of speed dial. Essentially a novel way to manage extensions, the new addition allows you to embed things into the dialer for direct access. Imagine a sort of home page with live versions of favourite sites. 

Password synchronisation across devices using the Opera browser is now also included. For some this means rapid access to web pages, for others a gaping hole in security. Best not to save any work passwords in case a phone gets left on the train.
