Archos have entered into the Honeycomb battle in a big way with the G9 tablets, both of which boast some serious specs sheets. 

Powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex A9, they are the most speedy Honeycomb tablets to date. Crammed inside is a 250GB Seagate hard drive, meaning maximum media on the go. That dual-core goodness also means plentiful 1080p playback so expect the large hard drive space to come in handy for storing big video files.

The tablets come in two different sizes, the 8-inch Archos 80 G9 and the 10-inch Archos 101 G9. The tablets also include a concealed USB port in the back which once the Archos 3G stick (£49.99) is plugged into, will allow the tablet to use the data connection. This means no choice between internal 3G option, with all models including Wi-Fi. The smaller of the two tablets has a 4:3 1024 x 768 display, the larger a 16:9 1280 x 800. 

The tablets are priced at £199 for the 8 inch option and £249 for the larger 10 inch offering. Expect them to be hitting shop shelves at the end of September.

Update: It looks like the hard drive in use is the Seagate Momentus. The ultra thin storage solution is the first hard drive found in a tablet. The drive comes in 320GB, 250GB and 160GB offerings, although the Archos only uses the 250. It also has 7200 and 5400 rpm spin speeds with 16MB of cache. 

The G9 also looks like it includes an HDMI output for those full 1080p .H264 files, which by the way it claims to be able to decode smoothly.
