With Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption not getting a desktop outing, and GTA IV coming under criticism for its patchy Windows-based gameplay, it was always a mystery as to whether L.A. Noire would be hitting the PC.

But now we know that it is, with Rockstar Leeds porting the game and an autumn release scheduled.

“L.A. Noire is a new type of game that makes players see through a detective’s eyes in 1940s Los Angeles,” said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. “Its unique blend of story, action and crime solving will be perfect to play on PC.”

The PC version, Rockstar promises, will be fully 3D supported and will even include "improved graphical enhancements" and "an even greater sense of interaction and immersion within a painstakingly detailed 1940s Los Angeles."

Since the title landed in May it has shifted almost 4 million copies.
