WEBSITE OF THE DAY – Ovi maps 3D

See the world in 3D! Um, just like the real world then...

Wow. It’s not often the boss sends over something and describes it as “stunning” (it nevers happens when I’ve filed anything, that’s for sure…) but he’s not wrong here.

Nokia have applied the latest 3D rendering tech to the map of the world and turned some of our favourite places into 3D environments for us to explore at maps.ovi.com/3D.

Never been to Barcelona? here you can see the Sagrada Familia as it’s meant to be seen. Never wandered along Miami Beach? Get to see it without getting any sand in your toes. Fancy a trip on the London Eye? Beat the queues here, and all without leaving your house.

Five of the cities have a street view and the photo-realistic images make a stroll through the boulevards of Copenhagen almost as good as the real thing.

Of course, if you really want to see the world in glorious rich, full colour 3D, you could always go outside.

Radical, I know, but if you can’t be bothered, here’s the next best thing.
