Griffin Survivor: Military toughness for your iPad 2

Armoured range extended to Apple tab

14 June 2011 11:35 GMT / By Paul Lamkin

Remember the Griffin Survivor Extreme Duty case that came rocking in back in March, turning your iPhone into a military standard tough SOB?

Well now your iPad 2 can stop cowering in the corner as the Armoured Survivor range has been extended to the tablet form and is now ready to wrap up your Apple slate.

Tested to US Department of Defence Standard 810F standards, the Survivor iPad 2 case will protect your tablet from dirt and sand (up to 18 m/sec for 1 hour), rain (up to 200 mm/hr for 1 hour), shock (tested by dropping onto a flat concrete surface from 1.8m), vibration (18 hrs at 20 to 2000 Hz) and attacks from fandroids (not actually tested).

Like the iPhone 4 version it is made out of  a shatter-resistant polycarbonate frame covered in rugged, shock absorbing silicone, and packs a screen protector too. It also boasts a stand for a bit of video watching action (Bear Grylls and the like obviously).

Costing £54.99, the Survivor iPad 2 case isn't the most svelte on the market obviously, but it may well be the toughest. It's out now and you can pick one up from Firebox.
