Details on Amazon's full colour tablet, codenamed "Hollywood", are thin on the ground, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from working overtime. Now, it is the consumer research department at specialist Detwiler Fenton that claims it has heard an interesting nugget.
The team believes that new device will carry Amazon's movie streaming service from launch (expected later this year), at least in the US. And, it is believed that in the first few months of going on sale, the service will be offered completely for free.
When added to other leaked information that the Amazon Hollywood could well be a quad-core tablet featuring Android Honeycomb, with access to Amazon Cloud Locker and the retail giant's own Appstore, Apple could have a decent battle on its hands.
Certainly, Hollywood will have a better (cheaper and well-stocked) book store than iBooks.
This is definitely and rapidly becoming one to watch...
