Camping with a smile - it can be done

13 June 2011 1:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

A couple of weeks ago we pondered whether there was a way to spend your well deserved holiday caravanning, without losing your credibility. It seems it’s possible. Just.

Camping hasn’t suffered from that particular problem for quite some time. There have been best-selling glossy guides, cookbooks, even entire TV series dedicated to “cool” camping, be it back-to-basics in farmer’s fields or “glamping” in hired yurts.

All we know is that spending a few nights under canvas can be very good for the soul and the people at www.thehappycampers.co.uk like to keep it real, if nothing else.

They’ve been there and done it and offer down to earth advice on where to stay in the UK, what to do when you get there and what to do to make sure you don’t poison yourself or burn the campsite down while trying to sort out a fry-up.

And not a single Carry On joke in sight either.
