Resident Evil-style outbreak would see city decimated

Leicester unprepared for zombie attack

10 June 2011 12:31 GMT / By Hunter Skipworth

Leicester City Council has admitted that it's not ready for a fully fledged zombie invasion after a member of the public expressed concerns over the city's defences.

The council said it had received a freedom of information request relating to the matter which had pointed to poor preparations for dealing with zombies.

This isn't the first unusual FOI request that the council has received, Lynn Wyeth, head of information governance told the BBC that there had been requests for records of paranormal activity and haunted buildings in the city.

"Everybody has their own interests and their own reasons for asking these questions," she said.

Freedom of information requests are typically used by journalists and members of the public to find out more about government and local councils. They played a key role in the recent MPs expenses claims stories.

For those living in the Leicester area concerned about the lack of zombie defences, consider consulting Zombiesarecoming.com, which lists everything you will need to combat an invasion.

Some have taken provisions and preparations to an extreme, the 'safe house' designed by KWK Promes is entirely zombie-proof, sealing family members inside behind massively thick concrete walls.

Leicester council members keen to brush up on their zombie defence skills should check out Resident Evil Revelations headed to the 3DS.
