GQ subscribers to get iPad version for free

Men's lifestyle magazine GQ has launched a UK iPad edition which is expected to eventually be free to access for subcribers of the print version.

Although a subscription package for the UK has yet to be decided, a spokesperson from Conde Nast told us that they're currently working on an agreement with Apple and Adobe. If all goes according to plan, then we would expect the iPad edition will follow the same path as the US version where users can pay for an annual subscription, or buy single issues, while those that subscribe to the print edition of the magazine will be able to access the iPad version for free.

There's no indication of when exactly the deal with Apple will be sealed, but we'll keep you posted.

At the moment, the UK GQ app and a sampler issue can be downloaded for free from iTunes and then an in-app charge of £2.40 can be paid for the July edition, which includes exclusive iPad content. If you're 16 or under, then forget it - you need to be at least 17 years old to download this app.
