Designer. There’s a word that has subtly changed in meaning over the years. It used to be somebody who made a living creating things that nobody else had thought of before.

But these days, it’s become an adjective. Saying something is “designer” is the ultimate accolade. It gives it kudos, cachet, desirability. And, more’s the pity; it usually gives it a hefty price tag too.
