As if a glasses-free 3D device and a Honeycomb powered phone and tablet combo weren't exciting enough, Asus has gone and announced a super slim MeeGo powered netbook at this year's Computex trade show in Taipei.

The Eee PC X101 is priced in at $199 or around £150, although UK prices are yet to be confirmed.

It is also capable of running Windows 7 in a dual-boot.

Using an Intel 1.5 GHz Oak Trail Atom processor, that's also turned up in the Viewsonic ViewPad 10Pro, the Asus netbook comes in either red, gold or white and presumably a black model for the less flashy.

Specs include GMA 600 graphics, 10 inch 1024 x 600 display, webcam, chiclet keyboard and a six cell battery as well as two USB ports. The Lithium Ion 28Whr battery is said to help provide a two second instant on time.

The tiny netbook is said to weigh less than 1Kg and boast MacBook Air sizing at just 17.6mm thick. Perhaps most exciting is the support of MeeGo by a major manufacturer such as Asus. The Intel backed OS has until now remained relatively underground.
