If you're the kind of chap whose work location is more likely to be a little bit more extreme than a corner cubicle on the 17th floor, and need a notebook PC that can survive the elements and a bit of a bashing then you may want to take a look at the revamped Panasonic CF-31 that has just been announced.

As well a plethora of rugged checkboxes; super long 13.5 hour battery life (with hot swapping extension option too), low reflection ratio touchscreen for bright areas, tough magnesium alloy casing, anti-scratch coasting, MIL-STD drop tested and water, dust, vibration and temperature protection packed; it also achieves an impressive IP65, MIL STD 810G rating.

Plus the hardware is none too shabby either, with the latest Intel i5 chip inside, along with AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics in the top model, with Intel HD 3000 graphics across the range and usable in the "Performance" model as well to save battery.

It also boasts a military standard "Concealed Mode" and the fan, backlight, status LEDs, speakers and communication models can all be switched off in an instant.

Finally it packs a 13.1-inch  XGA display, an Ericsson F5521gw HSPA+ (DL: 21 Mbps) module, 4 USB ports, a HDMI port, a card reader, a fingerprint reader, GPS and webcam.

Put short, if Rambo needed a laptop - he'd buy this one.

It's not cheap, of course - prices start at €3,699. It's out in June.
