They say the old ones are the best, and although not always the case, when talking of arcade games there is a certain addictive simplicity that today's efforts fall short of. So with that in mind the idea of having 60 classic arcade titles in your own home is a pretty attractive proposition.
And that's exactly what the GameCab Retro Tabletop Arcade Machine will deliver; offering one or two-player modes this certainly wouldn't look out of place in the Grand Hall of Pocket-lint Towers.
However, having one of these top-quality beasts in your own home doesn't come cheap, the original price coming in at £1295, but this being a tech deal the price has now dropped to £995. Although still on the wallet-busting side the design and build look to be top-notch, and for us at least the discount will give us a small amount of bargaining power with Mrs Pocket-lint - and we do mean small.
Coming with a 21-inch screen, with toughened glass to protect from the inevitable spillages and scratches, the games include 1942, Pacman, Arkanoid, Hustler, and of course Space invaders.
Available from findarcademachines.com, there's a year's warranty as standard with the option of upgrading to a whopping 5 years.
