Vodafone is adding a new entry level smartphone to its European line-up, and it's going to offer the handset on pay-as-you-go only in the UK.

The Vodafone Smart is, essentially, the successor to the Vodafone 845, and runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo). It also features a 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, dimensions of 56 x 106 x 12mm, is 100g in weight, and can be customised with different cover designs. The phone supports both Quadband and HSDPA (3.6).

Pricing for the new handset is yet to be confirmed, but a little birdy tells us that it is likely to be less than 90 euros in European territories. The UK price should reflect that too, and we'd be surprised if is breaks the £100 barrier.

We'll bring you more details as we get them, as the official announcement is imminent.
