It's only been in bed with YouView for a month and a half, but French manufacturer and broadcast technology giant Technicolor has pulled out of the venture with, currently, no public explanation as to why.

The split was first rumoured by sources close to industry site Broadband TV News, and has been quickly followed up by a statement from YouView, who contacted Pocket-lint directly: "We can confirm that Technicolor have decided to withdraw from YouView set top box development," says a company spokesperson. "However, they were one of seven manufacturing partners and Youview remains on track for a consumer launch in early 2012."

"YouView continues to work closely with a range of device partners notably Humax, Huawei, Pace as well as Manhattan, Vestel, and Cisco."

Technicolor itself is yet to comment, but while this decision may have more to do with the manufacturer's own business, it's a new blow for YouView, which was starting to build momentum with the appointment of Lord Sugar as non-executive chairman and a host of positive partnerships being signed with industry luminaries.

We'll keep you informed.

Will the withdrawal of Technicolor be damaging to YouView, or are the manufacturers remain more important to future plans? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below...
