On Wednesday Pocket-lint told you how HTC had began preparations for the Gingerbread update for both the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Incredible S and now Vodafone has confirmed that the update for the former is ready to go.

Detailing the Android 2.3 update on its official forum, Vodafone said:

A new maintenance release for the HTC Desire HD is now available to our customers. This update is an Android platform update to Gingerbread and introduces a number of fixes and improvements, including:

- Enhancements to the user interface (simpler and slicker)
- New Android Keyboard,  with easy copy/paste feature
- Improved Power Management
- Internet Calling support
- Multiple Camera Management (front and back)

The update will come over-the-air. You can see if your phone is ready to receive by going to Menu > Settings > About phone > System software updates > Check now.

To check you've updated properly you can check the build number which should be 2.36.161.12.
