Move over Apple, take a walk Google - for the first tablet in town to nab itself a fully-fledged, official, Facebook optimised tablet app will be the BlackBerry PlayBook.
The announcement was made over in Orlando, at the BlackBerry World Conference - and the app should land on the 7-inch slate contender later on this month.
It will bring the usual array of Facebook fun, such as updating your status, viewing and adding friends, photo and video viewing, chatting and checking out your news feed.
"There are over 30 million users of our Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app who are staying in touch with their social network while on the go," said Tom Goguen, VP, Collaboration and Social Networking at Research In Motion.
"Now with Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook we can also offer customers highly engaging social experiences optimized for the PlayBook including the ability to share Facebook pictures and videos with friends and family on an HDTV."
RIM also announced that a video calling option, delivered as an over the air update from 3 May, will be hitting the PlayBook too.
The app will let you make voice or video calls using a Wi-Fi connection and will have the usual array of VoIP options such as incoming call alerts, friends lists and picture in picture displays.
"BlackBerry is a renowned mobile communication solution for connecting users to the people and information that matter most throughout their day," said Goguen.
"With the BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat application we are excited to be enabling our customers to share important moments and events with family and friends via video calls. With the BlackBerry PlayBook's high-resolution video cameras and stunning display, a Video Chat call is the next best thing to being there."
