Chrome OS is on the horizon - an official June launch is likely Pocket-lint has learnt - and the latest device seems to have been uncovered; the Samsung Alex.

The codenamed Alex device has cropped up in some Chromium OS bug reports and the specs look like being a decent step up from the Cr-48 prototype that hit at the end of last year.

The next-gen netbook is said to be packing a HD 1280x800 display, an Intel Atom N550 processor with a 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM with Realtek ALC272 a SanDisk SSD and a Qualcomm Gobi Chipset 2000.

There's nothing more than that at the moment, but with Google I/O kicking off next week we'd expect to learn much more about the platform then.
