Sony brings out new HD TV series called Bravia X

New sets can display up to 1080p

Sony is launching the first HD1080 Bravia LCD TV in the UK capable of displaying HD on 1920 x 1080 LCD panel.

The KDL-46X2000U delivers precision colour reproduction thanks to Live Colour Creation, which uses a wide spectrum backlight and the new Bravia Engine EX.

The Bravia X series can receive 1080p signals, and houses twin HDMI inputs to ensure compatibility with the ever-expanding range of HD devices.

The 46-inch television even promises to enhance standard definition TV by increasing the resolution up to four times.

According to Sony, the designers boosted the red and green colours by using improved light-emitting phosphors.

With a contrast ratio of 1300:1, the screen promises a wider viewing angle than the tradition 170 degrees, and integrates power speakers and Dolby Pro Logic II Virtual Surround digital signal processing.

An inbuilt Digital TV tuner means the set can receive freeview broadcasts, while three Scart and two Component interface expand the TV's compatibility.

The television is available now for £3,999.
