Ainol teases weirdest looking Honeycomb tablet yet

There's a number of Android Honeycomb tablet devices that we're excited about getting our hands on this year. Sadly, this effort from Ainol isn't one of them.

Not because the spec doesn't sound good - because with a SoChip Cortex-A9 processor and a 1280x800 IPS capacitive touch screen it certainly isn't lacking on the hardware front.

And not because it's not a media savy bit of kit - because full 1080p HD support (HDMI) and compatibility with MKV, AVI, WMV, H.264, XviD and MPEG files, as well as a microSD option - it clearly is.

We're not excited about it because it looks like a vision of a 21st century device drawn up in the 1990s. It's a tad bulky and it has got more physical buttons than Pocket-lint's (still-working) Speak & Spell.

Okay, so that's a bit of an exaggeration - but surely a Honeycomb tablet doesn't need all those buttons. It's designed to be sans-buttons.

The mysterious device, which is still lacking a name, is also without a release date or any price details. But it's caught our eye (maybe for the wrong reasons) and we'll be following its progress, so expect to see an update soon.
