Take to the big city by bus

24 March 2011 1:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

The streets of London might not look the same since they replaced the old Routemasters with the unspeakably ugly (and just a little combustible) bendy buses, but that doesn't mean that jumping on a bus isn't one of the best ways to see this fine city.

Okay, so the newer models lack a bit of charm, but sitting on the top deck, you really get to see a different view of London and we highly recommend it.

The only real downside is that London is by anybody's standards a huge, sprawling and confusing city and the bus routes and timetables can be a bit daunting.

This handy map at www.busmapper.co.uk makes sense of it all instantly. Simply pick two points on the map and it shows you the best routes to get from A to B by bus.

It includes the legendary night buses (legendary for the wildlife usually found on the top deck after 2am) and means you can plot your way across the city with ease.

One suggestion? A mobile version please. Now that would be really something.
