Sometimes it's nice to cover an app that doesn't involve Angry Birds and teaches us something besides how to catapult a disgruntled, feathery beast into a makeshift shack that's sheltering a horde of dastardly pigs. That's why today's app is part of a series called History In An Hour, described by the makers as "history for busy people". The idea is that the facts and figures surrounding certain events and characters from history are broken down into bite-size chunks that you can read over the course of an hour with as little effort as possible.

Nazi Germany In An Hour pretty much does what it says on the tin. If your knowledge of Hitler doesn't extend beyond Basil Fawlty's impression in THAT episode of Fawlty Towers, then you should probably set aside an hour of your time for this informative app. As well as a timelime of significant events, you'll get profiles of key people complete with pictures.

Of course, the History In An Hour apps aren't all about Hitler (we just picked that one as it was on this day, 23 March, in 1933, that the German Reichstag voted in the Enabling Act, allowing Hitler to rip up the constitution just two months after he'd been voted into power). There are plenty of other titles to choose from including everything from the American Civil War and Henry VIII's wives to ancient Egypt and The Cold War with new titles being added all the time.

This series is perfect for those of us that want to read up on our history but don't have a lot of time to spare and seem to spend most of its staring at the screen of one gadget or another. And at just £1.79 each, it's much cheaper than buying a load of cumbersome history books.
