WEBSITE OF THE DAY – 38 Degrees

Putting the power back with the people

22 March 2011 1:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

As the world appears to be spiraling into chaos, with revolution in the air, fuel prices heading skyward and politics becoming one big central homogenous gloop from which it’s impossible to extract any real understanding, it’s easy to see why sites like 38degrees.org.uk are becoming popular.

It’s a place where you can come to join campaigns that really matter to you. If you think the plans for the NHS are a bad idea, you can add your weight to a campaign here and you’re more likely to be heard. Perhaps you’re appalled by the continuing trade in human life, as vulnerable people are trafficked across the globe. This is where you can have your say.

This is a modern twist on democracy and freedom of speech, and it does it with eloquence and professionalism. To the point where people are really starting to listen. 38 Degrees have chalked up three high profile campaign victories recently, and there’s surely more to follow.
