Panasonic USA will soon be accepting orders for its mammoth 103-inch plasma screen television, which will start shipping early in 2007.

The display's resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, is fully HD functionally, and has a contrast ration of 3000:1.

Panasonic said that it's initially manufacturing 5,000, and shipping 50% to the US, 20% to Europe, and the remaining 30% to Japan and Asia.

The TV is only 1-inch larger than Samsung's top-of-the-range plasma screen.

Panasonic, which is also known as Matsushita, controls over 20% of the global plasma TV market; its closest rival, LG, holds 17%.

No pricing details on the giant TV are available yet.
